2013 farmer's markets

This season I am doing two markets: Poplar Grove on Wedensdays and Downtown Riverside on Saturdays.  I will be at both the first and third weeks -- Riverside throughout the season and Poplar Grove through July 3, then its a bit sporatic.  Hopefully there will be other festivals to add to the list this season!  Stay tuned......

Happy Twenty Thirteen!

May it be a peaceful and productive year for all of us!

Antony Gormley on FIELD:

"I wanted to work with people and to make a work about our collective future and our responsibility for it. I wanted the art to look back at us, its makers (and later viewers), as if we were responsible - responsible for the world that it [FIELD] and we were in....... It is made from 125 tonnes of clay energised by fire, sensitised by touch and made conscious by being given eyes."

Ship's In!

My first day at the Riverfront Farmer's Market and a cruise ship docked right behind my booth.  The day was damp and chilly, but the market was brisk.

just a word about

surface decoration.

Pyromaniac tendencies aside, the thing I loved most about Raku is how the flame from the reduction chamber made the surface marks and I was free to concentrate on the shape of the pot.  The result felt very organic and spontaneous.  Translating those characteristics to functional ware and cone 6 glazes is a journey I have only just begun.
